For Girls 11 to 19

The Just Yell Fire seminar for teens is ideal for high school girls as it focuses on empowerment, knowing your rights, safety awareness, safe dating, street fighting self defense, a Dating Bill of Rights, and finally letting them know that one young person can change the world. Dallas Jessup (16), CNN Hero and America’s best known teen safety advocate, leads the presentation so this audience is immediately engaged as they are hearing from one of their own.

Teenage girls learn best when presented with information in a combination of media and methods. Our one and two hour presentations include viewing the Just Yell Fire film (one of the most downloaded worldwide of every film type), a moderated Question & Answer period, and demonstrations using audience members; these in addition to the inspirational story of how Dallas, then 13, started this program which has quickly grown into 44 countries.

The audience particularly benefits from learning 10 age-appropriate street fighting get-away tools where a 100 pound girl can get away from a 250 pound attacker every time. An eye gouge, a timely scream, whip slapping an ear and other techniques can get these girls the extra few seconds to get away so that instead of becoming a statistic – they make it home to their parents every night.

For Young Women 18 to 24

The Just Yell Fire seminar for college women offers empowerment, inspiration, and some street fighting skills developed for elite military personnel then adapted to the get-away self defense needs of young women. We let women know they have the right to stand up for themselves in relationships and on the street. Just Yell Fire takes away their fear as they know how to get away from any violent situation including a quick-learn skill to walk away from almost any sexual assault.

We present the Just Yell Fire film (Most Notable 2008 American Library Association and now in use by shelters, law enforcement, and schools in 44 countries) which immediately engages them with appearances by actors Evangeline Lilly and Josh Holloway from television’s hit show LOST.

The seminar includes the dozen elements of personal safety critical for this age group including date rape drugs, jogging safety, safe parking lot strategies, on-campus violence, and more. Young women particularly enjoy and are empowered by our ten instinctive street fighting get-away tools taught by Dallas Jessup, a black belt martial arts expert and Filipino street fighting instructor.

Just Yell Fire is different from other self defense programs. We focus on avoiding problem situations but if a young woman finds herself in a tough situation our techniques enable her to temporarily disable an attacker and be a half block away in a matter of seconds. The Oregonian calls it “Necessary Roughness”; seminar attendees call it empowering.
